KBEA-00109 - Max user processes changed in RHEL 6

Summary

Be advised that in RHEL 6+, the "max user processes" "ulimit -u" setting has been lowered to 1024.

On RHEL 6, if ElectricAccelerator services are started from a shell (as opposed to at boot time), you may encounter errors such as java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread. This type of error occurs because RHEL 6 greatly decreased the default maximum number of threads per user.

Solution

The best way to avoid being affected by the new lower limit is to ensure that the Cluster Manager is started during bootup and not restarted manually from a shell.

As a workaround, comment out the nproc line from the /etc/security/limits.d/90-nproc.conf file.
